Dr. Rathkamp is a graduate of the School of Behavioral Health and Psychology at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. The focus of her research was on children who struggle with emotional outbursts as it relates to their technology usage or the removal of technology.
Dr. Rathkamp received her Bachelor of Science from the University of MD in Psychology where her clinical work focused on disruptive behaviors in early childhood, language development and development disruptions in early childhood. She went on to complete her Master’s in Professional Counseling at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She continued working with Infants and Toddlers and their families, helping them identify developmental disruptions and identify needs early on in the developmental process. Angela also had the opportunity to mentor with staff in a substance abuse clinic as well as with staff on a community-based crisis response team.
More recently, Angela decided to continue her education at the University of Mississippi where she worked under the direction of Dr. Michelle Perepiczka and Dr. Jennifer Main. She completed her Ed.S. in Counselor Education and successfully earned her Registered Play Therapist credential.
Dr. Rathkamp treats a wide range of social-emotional issues/ difficulties. She provides play therapy using a child-centered approach for autism, anxiety, OCD, panic disorders, mood-related disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, trauma-related disorders, adjustment or stress-related difficulties (parental divorce, loss of a loved one, family move, new baby), and works with parents on managing difficult behaviors.
Angela has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Filial Therapy. Angela likes to incorporate the family in as much of the process as possible in order for the treatment to be the most effective. Treatment is always individualized based on the child’s and family’s needs. AND... she is fluent in American Sign Language!

Meet Ada Zant, LCPC, NCC
Ada Zant is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor who has been in practice since 2011. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in Deaf Studies, to which she added a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. She is licensed to practice in the states of Maryland and North Carolina and is an approved supervisor in the state of Maryland.
Ada began her clinical experience as a school-based therapist, providing elementary-age children with interventions in the school setting. Throughout that time, she also worked with all ages in the office, including some Deaf and hearing adults. After working with children and families for six years, Ada transitioned to management, where she led three mental health sites and 25 licensed mental health providers. In that role, she provided clinical and operational oversight to the three mental health teams, including support staff, while carrying a small caseload.
Ada has worked with a range of diagnoses in both settings including autism, anxiety, depression, mood-related disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, grief, trauma-related, adjustment, and stress-related difficulties. Her focus is always client-centered with the goal of creating a therapeutic relationship and environment in which her clients can grow and thrive. Ada is excited to return to clinical counseling, helping clients and their families to realize their goals through play and other interventions.
